Fox 2 Ron Savage

Ron Savage
News Anchor/Reporter

BIOGRAPHY

Ron Savage is a FOX 2 News reporter, and is the weekend co-anchor, with Robin Schwartz for FOX 2 News at 6 and 10. He also produces and anchors FOX 2 News’  Michigan’s Most Wanted feature.  The FBI, DEA, U. S. Marshals and Michigan State Police confirm thirty-six (36) fugitives have been caught directly due to profiles on MMW.  Kevin Roseborough is the executive producer of MMW.

Ron’s investigative reports with the FOX 2 Problem Solvers began in 1999, when he joined the station. He received Live Breaking Story Emmy honors in 2005 for his up-to-the-minute report (under life-threatening circumstances) on Summer 2004’s “Fireworks Shooting.”  His 2002 investigation into a Florida counter-terrorist training camp was nominated for an Emmy.  Ron was the only reporter to graduate with law enforcement agents who were trained in firearms, intelligence gathering, and ground fighting. He anchored previously at the FOX-owned station in Memphis, as well as at TV stations in Lansing, Michigan, Raleigh, North Carolina and as a free-lancer for CNN and ESPN.

Ron is certified by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.  A Michigan firefighter, born and raised on Detroit’s northwest side, Ron holds a license registered with the State of Michigan as a Medical First Responder.  He is also a graduate of the State Police firefighter academy, certified at the Hazardous Materials/Operations Level, Ice Rescue and Emergency Diving.  He has served on four USA fire departments and currently is an on-call firefighter with the Brighton Fire Department, assigned to Engine Company 32.  Ron received two unit citations for outstanding line of duty performance: for a commercial factory fire in 2001 and a critical injury multiple car crash on US 23 at I-96 in 2002.

Ron ran the Detroit Marathon in 1999 and in 2001.  He runs charity races supporting the Thin Blue Line, raising funds for victim families of Michigan law enforcement line of duty deaths.  He also is involved with Mothers Against Drunk Driving.  Ron played nine seasons of semi-pro football as a tight end with the Memphis Showboats, the Durham, North Carolina Cardinals and the Lansing Capitols.  His guest TV appearances include All My Children (he portrayed an obnoxious TV reporter), the O’Reilly Factor and on America’s Most Wanted.
