Grateful Patient Gives Back with Soul Stirring Fundraiser
The sounds of opera flooded the Novi home of Giuliano Zuccato, retired Ford Motor Company engineer and former patient of Visiting Nurse Association of Southeast Michigan, for a unique fundraising opportunity. Zuccato opened his home so that others could open their hearts to VNA’s hospice patients.
The July event raised $3,700 which VNA will use to help patients at the end of life cope with their physical and emotional pain.
“It is reassuring to know that an organization like the VNA is in place to help people in their home environment which I think was a good part of my recovery,” said Zuccato, who received care from VNA following shoulder surgery. “I am pleased to host this event.”
The evening of musical performances, dancing and socializing centered on the talented and dedicated members of the Verdi Opera Theatre of Michigan. Jacqueline Csurgai-Schmitt, renowned pianist, filled Zuccato’s home with her music as Verdi Opera Theatre’s talented singers took turns sharing stories through songs, narrated by John Zaretti, president of the theatre group. Dramatic acting, costumes and song captivated all in attendance.
Visiting Nurse Association of Southeast Michigan offers a special thank you to Mr. Zuccato for hosting the event, the Verdi Opera Theatre of Michigan for sharing their talents and all the attendees for their generous support.
